The Last Walk

Johnny came over last night.

He said that there was a bunch of people he needed to see and talk to.

“Samahan mo ako,” he said.

So I did.

We went to see all our friends: his co-workers in the NGO sector, our Komikero pals, and old college buddies. We spent the time just chatting and gabbing.

He was the same old Johnny, laughing and healthy.

We ended the journey at the foot of a mountain. We stopped for a bit and we had a talk. I told him to take it easy and to take care of himself. I can’t recall what he was said to me but he was smiling.

After saying our goodbyes he went on up and I stood there at the foot watching him go.

And then I woke up.
