Interview: Alodia Gosiengfiao

Many years ago I asked Alodia Gosiengfiao to make me a one page comic story for my short-lived project, Pocket Comics. We also did an interview to accompany her story. Let me warn you however, that this interview with Alodia, or Edjie as she’s known by friends, is really old.

How old you ask? She was actually still in school when we did the interview.

Hoping you guys get a kick out of this blast from the past. The interview follows…

Alodia Gosiengfiao, or Edjie as she’s known by friends and family, is a cosplayer, a fashion model, and is the featured artist for this month’s Comic Creator Spotlight. Tell us a little something about yourself.
Well, I love art, illustrating, cosplay, music, fashion, and video games.

How long have you been cosplaying?
Since 2003 which makes it almost 5 years.

What got you into cosplaying?
It all started from an invitation from friends in an online forum. Since they know that my sister and I are into fashion, they told us about this “costume contest”. We tried our hand at it and never stopped doing it after.

What do you like most about cosplaying?
It exercises one’s creative juices. I also love it because art and fashion really make me happy.

How did you get into comics?
I started taking comics seriously when I got a Comics Class as one of my electives in school. I never regretted my decision. What I do regret is that I started reading comics too late!

What are some of the comics that you read?
I am currently reading Marvel’s Runaways, Ragnarok, Robots, Death Note, Archie Comics, and Blade of the Immortal.

What are some of your future plans?
For now, I dedicated most of my time to doing school work. I plan to graduate on time so that means no slacking off for me even if I get art or modelling gigs at times. I’m not really sure that’s in store for me after graduation. I could study abroad, open up a business, work at home as an illustrator, or all of the above…but that would be overkill.
